Kate’s Tree is a powerful symbol of strength and resilience for our island community. In the 1890s, Kate Bailey fought to save the historic live oak from being cut down for a new road. Her fierce determination protected the tree so its beauty could last for centuries.
Recently, after a large limb broke, Amelia Tree Conservancy offered to pay the services of a master arborist to oversee the delicate job of repairing Kate'sTree and the City accepted our offer. Now, this historic tree can live another 100 years!
ATC is grateful to the many donors whose support makes efforts like this possible.
